{"id":47,"date":"2018-01-08T00:14:06","date_gmt":"2018-01-08T00:14:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.loveinfused.com.au\/?p=47"},"modified":"2018-04-06T03:21:53","modified_gmt":"2018-04-06T03:21:53","slug":"stress-less","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.loveinfusedliving.com.au\/index.php\/2018\/01\/08\/stress-less\/","title":{"rendered":"Stress Less"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just take a moment right now and tune in to the level of tension in your body \u2013 are you gripping your muscles in places you\u2019d never even noticed before? \u00a0Stress in our modern lives has become a chronic and reliable presence in our lives. \u00a0Did you know that our stress response \u2013 increased heart rate, a rush of blood to our muscles, less blood to the brain and digestive organs \u2013 is an automatic response to getting us out of physical danger. \u00a0In a short, intense period, we run from the lion that is chasing us until we clamber up a tree to safety and then we rest, for long periods, until the next short and intense incident. \u00a0Our bodies had time to recover, our digestion once again became top priority and life returned to normal pace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In modern times, however, we have a continuous flow of stress hormones in our system \u2013 work stress, home stress, relationship stress, parenting stress \u2013 with little muscle movement (exercise) to diffuse the stress and no time to rest and repair.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s2\">Stress profoundly impacts the way we function physical, mentally and emotionally and frequently prevents us from functioning at our optimum. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>With less stress onboard the body is able to heal itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Practical ways to stress a little less<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Taking stock of our lives may not be a practice we engage in often, but experiencing the benefits of doing just that can be a truly enlightening experience. The transition into the slower months of autumn and winter is the perfect time for reflecting on where we are at, and whether it is perhaps time to stress a little less.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Spend time in nature<br>\n<\/strong>Breathing beautiful, clean air draws us back to the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">simple things. Spend some time walking or sitting in the natural environment\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and listen to the birds and the stillness. Why not try the botanic gardens,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">somewhere in the country or a beautiful national park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Write a journal<br>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start keeping a diary of your everyday thoughts and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feelings. Bringing our attention to how we feel about areas of our life is a\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">powerful way to reshape our lives for the better. It can also help to remind us\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">how much we already enjoy about our lives.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Meditate<br>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sounds tricky, but it doesn\u2019t have to be. Meditation is really all\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">about being completely present in our bodies. In a quiet place, close your\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">eyes and focus on your heart \u2013 feel the rhythm as it beats. Now move through\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">your body from head to toe (or whichever sequence you like) and really feel\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">every part of your body. It\u2019s a subtle and peaceful feeling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Draw a mind map<br>\n<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brainstorm all the key areas of your life and how they\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are working (or not) for you. Draw a circle in the centre of the page and label\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it \u201cMy Life\u201d. Then branch out from the centre to other circles containing the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">major elements of your life (eg. work, family, health, relaxation\/hobbies, etc.)\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and daydream about how you would ideally like these areas to be.
